Had to setup PHP with GD support on a Godaddy host this morning. Since it is not straightforward I am posting how I did it here.
First go to the cPanel/Web Host Manager and login using your browser. Then on the left sidebar look for the ‘Software’ section. Click on ‘Apache Update’. Walk through all the dialogs until you get to the PHP section. Make sure you choose one of the two options for image (GD) support. Continue on through the dialogs and do the compiles. It takes about 1.5 hours. When you are finished put your virtual host info back into the ‘Apache Setup’ section. Make sure you restart Apache when finished and you are all set.
